About Scheels

Three acres of potatoes were the seed for the first Scheels store in 1902. Frederick A. Scheel, a German immigrant, used the $300 he earned from that first harvest of potatoes as the down payment on the first Scheels, a small hardware and general merchandise store in Sabin, Minnesota.

Over the years, Scheels has opened 24 locations in 10 different states, including the largest all-sports store in the world in Reno-Sparks, Nevada. Scheels carries a large selection of products, sportswear and footwear, including a number of top brands in the sporting goods industry like Nike, The North Face, Under Armour, Columbia, ASICS and adidas. Scheels also has a wide selection of hunting apparel, fishing supplies, and fashion accessories with brands like Scheels Outfitters, Remington, Berkley, Rapala, Nikon, Hurley, Silver Jeans, and Billabong.

Alongside service shops, Scheels also offers gunsmithing. The extensive list of gun services includes metal finishing, general shotgun work, general rifle work, handgun work, muzzle brakes and much more!
