Packed weight comes in at 3. 71 lbs, but if I leave the covers for the tent, poles, and stakes at home, it drops to about 3. 28 lbs.\n\nMy first pitch took me less than 7 minutes without even staking it down, and I was impressed with how sturdy it felt. Inside, there’s plenty of room for me and my dog with a 78\" x 28\" pad, and the straight-wall design makes the space feel a lot bigger.\n\nIt is a little heavier than the X-Mid since that one runs on trekking poles, but honestly the quick setup and extra space are worth it for me. I took this one on a five day hike into the backcountry and it did not disappoint. It is immediately obvious that this is a much thought out and iterated design. Everything just works. The poles are all the same size for easy replacement, the footprint and the base cords fit together, the triangular pegs are perfect, the mesh storage and drying strings inside are very useful. It goes up fast and is pretty much intuitive. I did watch a couple of videos before hand but really is not needed.\n\nWhen you buy the tent, the bag is oversized. When you put the tent back in the back after use, the bag is just the right size to fit it all, and a footprint as well if you buy it. Not all outdoor gear manufacturers are this considerate. Once it is al back in, the roll top and cinching buckles help compress the package back down.\n\nI did not have any rain on this trip, so I cannot comment on that aspect of the ten. The old one I have had for about 17 years. I used the old one even this year on a 10 day sea kayaking trip but it is true - I can no any longer relay on it. I also own one person Hubba have had it for 16 years. Meanwhile I have used many other makes. Taking everything into consideration it is worth its price, quite sturdy for that light make. You can not compare it to e. g. Hilleberg Soulo or Allak - I own them both - they perform defenitely better in the north durin gales and storms while on a sea kayaking trip/expeditions, but when I dont go to so demanding areas I prefer Hubba series for their lightness and not being so warm. That is true that in a heavy rain you can have some fly issues - a bit of water sipping inside, but that must be really heavy rain. Something for something - e. g. Hilleberg tents are much heavier and expensive. It seems that in the past they had some problem with fly impregnation - I got exchang for a sticky fly with chemical smell (some 10-12 years ago?) but overall I really recommend them. I wonder how the new one will perform. This is my 5th Hubba Hubba. I tried owning a Hilleberg tent but sold it to go back to my tried and true Hubba Hubba. Unfortunately, they seem to have gone with an overly lightweight fly on this new version…after just 16 days of use, the two perpendicular poles at the apex of the fly are wearing through the fly! I am clipping the pole ends into the attachement tabs and carefully lining up the fly but the pole ends are through the fly on one side and nearly through on the other side. I am in love with this model of tent and have never ever had this issue with previous models. My only conclusion is that the new fly material is innadequate.
