These have been my go to boots for the longest time and they had some of the best reviews of any boot this style. Not anymore. Maybe at least send out some free replacement laces while the design flaw is being worked out? Working in Southeast Louisiana, I’ve never once gotten my feet wet wearing these boots even with the tops submerged. The toe box is roomy and allows a bit of room for feet to swell without being too much. They’re relatively light weight and feel almost like tennis shoes on my feet. These boots biggest drawback is the god awful laces. In a year, I’ve probably been through 6+ sets of laces. I even replaced the laces in the last few weeks and they’re already fraying. I know the issue is the metal eyelet wearing down over time and is fraying the lace, but I’ve tried to file it down to no avail. I’ve tried Salomon laces and several off-brand and they all end up fraying. Only gripe I have with is the speed laces which isn't a big deal because you can always simply replace them or switch them to regular laces after they break. If used for work outdoors, I would spray some suede protectant to keep the color or else it will fade over time like any other suede. I am going to assume a burr formed on the guides in the eyelets on both side and it is wearing through the lace. I don't know how to go about fixing it. But if I had it to do over, I would still buy Solomon.
