I live and work in Alaska in one of the rainiest places anywhere, and these boots are so comfortable, the soles are not too thin like some of the cheaper boots made by 3M and that you might find elsewhere on the internet. The tiniest puncture in thin soles makes boots worthless in the rain. I've had this pair for a year now and so far no leaks. They're also not ankle twisters like ExtraTuffs.\nIt's important to note however that the tongue of the shoe is not waterproof. If you step in ankle deep water, water will seep in through the tongue fabric. For me, that is fine, because I wear these boots all day long every day and I would prefer my feet to breathe a little, I just try to avoid stepping in puddles that deep. Inevitably it happens, but only a few times a year. But I suppose, making that tongue waterproof might be an option that would be appreciated by some. \nAnother thing that I've come to realize about Sorel, is that they seem to have come to the same conclusion as I have that lace hooks are dangerous trip hazards. I appreciate that none of their shoes seem to have them. I especially like the design of the eyelets of these boots. Pretty cool.\nYou know, my dad has had a pair or two of Sorels in his closet for about as long as I can remember, I always felt like I couldn't really afford them myself for a long time, but I always liked the ones he had. Now that I'm older, I realize, it's worth paying a bit extra for really good shoes. Live and learn I guess. I particularly like these as they are fairly light weight and easy to put on. Certainly not, however, anywhere near the Sorel standard as far as warmth goes despite being advertised as a winter snow boot designed for temps to -20 degrees. This boot is advertised as Men's Waterproof Boots made for cold and wet weather, yet the shoelaces and zippers are not waterproof. Wow. Spend a few additional bucks and get something better. Comfortable as can be, and super warm. They fit well with snowshoes when it’s really deep and pants can clip to the laces. No snow gets in. Good grip on everything but hard ice.
