Great grip, great mud shedding, durability is awesome so far. Happy to see a Vibram on the Timp I hope they keep using it for years to come. Midsole took a few days to break in, feels great now. Upper is bomber and super comfortable. Coming from a lower stack shoe, this feels cushiony but still responsive enough. I'm curious how long before the midsole starts to feel \"flat\" and loses its springy-ness. My only complaint is I find it hard to get a good heel lock. The shoe just feels too narrow and tight on the upper portion of the shoe near the bottom of the tongue. The tongue material bunches up beyond the stitching causing an additional uncomfortable point. For me that problem is gone with the Timp 5. However, with that, I am still working through some rubbing spots from the tongue on the Timp 5. I have a very narrow foot and I could see how others are saying they might be too narrow. I think the shoe could be a bit wider through the middle of the shoe. If you previously worn the Timp 4, I would still absolutely recommend trying the Timp 5. Upper- would prefer a different and more comfortable material, it feels a little stiff. BETTER GLUE or just use stitching! Not acceptable all the delamination issues of overlays that continue with Altras. Fit is on the narrow side for Altra and I found a half size up fit great for my average to wide foot. Tongue could be a little wider but I like the amount of cushion in it. Midsole- EgoMax has been very good, it's not super responsive but has a little bounce and good stability. Feels agile and has enough protection. I like the stack height and feel more than the LP. Outsole- Excellent. More Vibram please Altra. \nHopefully you can get it all right with the next version, on the right track! The Vibram outsole is probably the best all arounder that Altra has ever offered. The cushioning is absolutely perfect. Doesn't feel excessively hard or pancake like Lone Peaks, but also doesn't feel clunky or unstable like the Olympus. Absolutely perfect. It's light, fast, well cushioned, grippy, the flex is perfect too. Not super flexible like the lone peak or previous Timp, but not stiff like the Olympus either. Just enough flex to give you some ground feel and articulation, but also offers a touch of support for big mile days. Unfortunately it has some bizarre fit issues. I don't have particularly wide feet, that's not why I got into Altra's, and I've never had any toe rub issues... except on these. My pinky toe is slammed up against the outside of the shoe, while I have a thumb width gap on the inside. If I stand on the shoe without putting my foot inside, I can see the heel is straight but the forefoot is angled to the inside. I've had other Altra's with the same foot shape and never had this issue. Also talked to a woman on one of our local trails that had the exact same issue except worse, the whole side of her foot was hanging over the edge of the midsoles because of the weird angled forefoot.
