Already own a 162 Bushcrafter and bought a custom pair of these mostly for the handle color. Unfortunately the older one is still a better knife imo. Not only are the new handles smaller in general(ok, different design, whatever I get it) but because[I assume] they are stonewash finish, the G10 handles are not finish-sanded to the knife, and the tang protrudes from the G10 material on all sides. (It’s visible in ONE picture from this site. . we’re talkin a couple millimeters but it makes the handle feel rough in your hand). Albiet, the knives are still even and well made but not at all what I was expecting being as I already own the older version of the same exact knife. The 162’s handle’s feeling is one of the best things about it. In my humble opinion, Benchmade missed the mark here. It has a couple nice features that are superior to the 162(the fire-starter notch is a nice touch) but make sure you hold one in your hand before dropping $800 on a custom pair of them. Went down the 3 stars because for $400/per knife, people on here giving 5 stars after they cut an onion once saying “cuts well” lol. I use the heck out of my benchmades (still love you guys btw) but hands-down, the changes you made on this knife (minus the handle color, and fire-notch which I love) certainly did not make the tool better for its intended purposes. I haven’t had a chance yet to properly christen this beautiful blade, but I live off grid in North Idaho, and when I’m wandering around my property or doing chores out in the yard or shed, this is always on my belt. Looking forward to using it to build a bushcraft shelter with my young son, and take it on our yearly glamping trip to the Eastern Sierras in a couple of months. The knife feels great in hand, a real and solid presence for the palm. I’ll confess I wasn’t particularly optimistic about the sheath—I tend to prefer the pouch style drop in sheaths from folks like JRE Imdustries—but this one has surprised me. I’ve added a dangler loop that I found on Amazon some time back and it turned out to be an exact color match for this so dark brown it looks black in photos, supple leather sheath. I have bigger hands and was worried even with the larger version of the knife, the handle might become uncomfortable after extended use, I haven't experienced that at all!\n\nIt fits comfortably in the hand, the weight and build quality inspire confidence. It feels plenty sturdy to take on whatever tasks you throw at it. I take it with me every time I'm out on a ride, and it's very comfortable to carry in most situations.
