Yep my wife refused to let me shoot it until Christmas Day. Being a great wife she also bought me a new GlenDel 300lb full rut bow target. I mounted a day / night vision sightmark scope with on it for shooting hogs at night and the ability to shoot deer during the day time. My first shot was at 20 yards. I has looked down the bow rail and scope and made small adjustments to the scope to assure the arrow hit the target. The first arrow was within 4” of bullseye. The fletching was 1/2” from touching the target. However the field tip and tip insert had blow out the end of the arrow. I made some adjustments to the scope and mover the target out to 40 yards. Then 60 yards. I lost another insert and field tip within the next 8 to ten shots. The fletching touched the target on roughly 30% of the shots. After zeroing the scope at 40 yards I moved the target to 50 yards to see what the trajectory was. The arrow hit 1 1/4 “ low at 50. I then moved the target to 30 yards and shot, the arrow hit roughly 1” high. I did not shoot it at 60 yards to see how low it was. I decided to install a optimizer under the scope. Does not work well with this bow. I zeroed at 20 yards. Mover target out to 60 yards. Zeroed at 60 utilizing the optimizer. The number for 60 on the test strip was a 9. I installed the 9 strip. I confirmed that the 20 yard scale and 60 yard scale was dead on. I turned the dial to 40 yards and tested the elevation. The arrow hit 2” high. Basically the bow is so fast that there is not a noticeable difference between 20 and 30 yards. I removed the optimizer. The bow trajectory is flat enough that if you zero at 40 yards you will be within a 2” sight window out to roughly 55 yards. I had an issue with the string after roughly 50 shots. The serving started coming in done. Ravin was easy to work with. They sent me a couple additional arrows and 1/2 dozen inserts to replace the ones I lost. However nobody has a bow press to change the string. I had to send the bow back to Ravin to get a new string installed. Ravin payed for shipping both directions. I was able to kill a wild hog and a nice 8 point buck with it before sending it back to Ravin. I should get my bow back next week. South Mississippi deer season does not end until February 15. I should get the opportunity to hunt with it a couple more weeks before season ends. Additional time bro I would like to share. The balance of the cross bow is great, however the position of the hand and finger on the trigger feels somewhat different than a gun trigger. It’s ok but different. I used the lower Picatinny rail and an adapter to support the cross bow while in a ground blind. The previous crossbows were back heavy. The R500 is better balanced. Being the scope rail is attached on both ends in lieu of being cantilevered. So light bumps etc should not affect the scope zero. The bow is very well made and I am very happy it. I look forward to Ravin designing some lighted knocks as I lost both at the arrow that I shot in taking the bow and deer. The speed of the arrow was still very sleazy as exiting the animals. This may not be an issue if you are in a tree shooting down but shooting horizontally the arrow keeps going after the pass through. I also will purchase a Ravin bow press for the R500 and keep an extra string on stand by should I need it. I think we can all agree that we may have some small issues with equipment at 500fps. Nevertheless I believe it’s the best Crossbow on the market. I’m 100% satisfied.
{"1":0,"2":0,"3":0,"4":0,"5":2
"Full Description:
For hunters and shooters that appreciate Ravin's legendary technology, the R500 takes crossbow innovation to the next level. The new proprietary HexCoil Cam System rotates the cams an incredible 360 degrees and has reformed traditional crossbows into the fastest, most accurate and compact designs ever seen. Completely silent, this crossbow uses the new R500 Draw Handle and cocks back to a slim 3.6 inches when fully cocked, firing arrows downrange at 500 feet per second! The R500 utilizes the new VersaDrive Cocking System that has an internal screw drive that moves the Trac Trigger Firing System (TTFS) back and forth. The internal clutch within the VersaDrive System eliminates over-cocking and allows cocking and uncocking to be stopped or resumed at any time during the process. The R500 can be upgraded to the R500E by purchase of the new Electric Drive Kit, sold separately. The R500 comes in Slate Gray and will be available Spring 2021.

Specifications:

HexCoil Cam System

SKU: R050

Built-in Sling Mounts

Anti-Dry Fire/Auto Safety

100 Yard Illuminated 550 FPS Scope

1 - Quiver/Mounting Bracket

1 - Removable Draw Handle

6 - Ravin .003 Arrows & Field Points (400 Grain Total)

Fully Assembled/Pre-Tuned

VersaDrive Cocking System

Length: 28"

Draw Weight: 300#

Draw Effort: 17 LBS

Kinetic Energy: 222 FT LBS

Power-Stroke:15"

Width Axle to Axle Uncocked: 7.6"

Width Axle to Axle Cocked: 3.6"

Speed: 500 FPS

Weight: 8.4 lbs

"
