I've now been on a few short hikes with the Katabatic and come away impressed with the breathability, lightweight and grip on the tread. However this is my first pair of Oboz and the fit is. . . unique. Feels roomy throughout with a fairly large heel cup, generous midfoot and wide toebox. I wish Obox made a regular and \"wide\" version of the shoe as it all feels a bit loose. I do have fairly low volume feet that are flat-ish and narrow so I've liked Asolo boots and La Sportiva in the past. Also the tongue is really really thin, (way less substantial than my running shoes) so I did feel the laces more than I expected when trying to cinch it down to create a tighter fit. I use them for work. I am a foreman for a construction company in big bear ca. so the reason I keep going back to oboz is the awesome insole. On my feet all day and no foot pain. ( strait out of the box with no break in. ) so these new ones are great as far as ventilation. Don’t like the look as well as my old sawtooth mids. I personally like the FDE and olive drab look. These only came in dark grey. As far as performance these are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. We will see about longevity.
