She was scared since it was something new. She has a problem with her hip and limps badly when she is tired. After using this for a couple of weeks, she was able to get in and out of our van without any trouble and would actually limp less once she started using it. It was easy to setup right out of the box. No assembly needed. Unhook safety latch and the ramp extends out and connects your surface where you want to use the ramp. There is a non-slip coating on the ramp which makes it easier for the dogs paws to grip while walking on it. The ramp folds back up with practically no effort and is easy to store. Getting your dog to use the ramp is another step all in itself. After trying to train my two dogs to use this ramp, I was successful in getting one of them to finally walk up the ramp. The other dog still proceeds to just sit on the ramp motionless each time I place him there, regardless of the treat I am offering on the other end. This would be great if it were able to be a bit smaller. The joints need to be able to be locked in place you can bend the ramp in the joint areas while it is extended. I used to have to pick him up to put him in the car and being that I take him everywhere I go this ramp has been a blessing! I own a 2017 Nissan Murano and the extended length of this ramp (70 inches works great. \r\n\r\nThe angle is a bit steep but the traction is fantastic. My dog has no trouble with slipping at all. To get your dog used to the ramp it's suggested to first put the ramp on something low, like a curb or a stair simply to get your dog used to it. I had my Yogi using the ramp on the 1st day! \r\n\r\nI love that it's so light and compact. It hardly takes up any room so I just leave it in my car. It has a built in handle so it's easy to carry. The operation couldn't be easier. There's a button snap that keeps the ramp from sliding out. Simply unsnap the strap to fully extend the ramp. \r\n\r\nThe only thing I would've liked is if the lip on the ramp was adjustable. There are two rubber pieces on the underside of the lip (shown in 2nd picture) to protect your cars bumper and to keep the ramp from sliding around. If you have a flat bumper it will make full contact. Unfortunately my Murano has a weird curved bumper so the rubber pieces don't make full contact. There's enough contact to keep the ramp from sliding so it's not a huge deal but an adjustable lip would be awesome!\r\n\r\nOther than that I love everything else about it. It's solidly built, lightweight, compact, and simple to use--can't ask for much more than that! I needed a ramp for use with my 10 1/2 year old great dane. Getting in the car has started to become an issue, so I wanted a ramp that is light and easy to use. This ramp is very light and easy to handle. Folds up to a nice size for putting in the trunk of the car. Only concern is the surface could have a little more traction to it. They really thought of everything, including a handle on the side that makes it easy to transport. It is also lightweight but don't let that deter you. The design is flawless and completely safe. It comes with instructions on how to use (which is extremely easy), along with tips on how to get your dog to use the product. I used my dog's favorite toy and it worked beautifully. I walked the toy up the ramp and he followed it and I repeated the process in reverse.
