Why put something so cheap on your product? Most of the poor reviews are aimed at this component. I was trying to weigh a 27 lb. catfish (see video) when the clip broke. The scale is rated for 50 lbs., you need to have a clip that doesn't break at 27 lbs when you weigh the fish! I emailed Customer Service asking to purchase a replacement clip. They replied they did not offer replacement clips, but asked for a photo of the failure and purchase information to review. I replied with a photo and the requested information. I have no idea why they made the request because I have heard nothing back from them, and it has been nearly a month. I can’t estimate the amount of money I have spent on Berkley products over 50 years of fishing, but I now refuse to purchase anything by Berkley. Other than that scale appears to work good. I checked the weight accuracy with a known 5 lbs weight. It was spot on. I bought the first scale and figured I did something to break it. So I bought another. Was meticulously careful with it. When it broke in exactly the same place I knew it wasn’t my fault. Just sayin. I would spend a little more maybe and get a different scale. We just use my fishing partners scale now. I’ve gone through 2 of them now and not only are they very inaccurate, but once it reads “Lo” (indicating Low Battery), just throw it in the trash. I had the same issue as multiple other reviewers. Batteries appeared dead so I changed. I took 6 x 2032 🔋 out of packing and go the “Lo” reading and scale turned off. I bought this scale in July for Canada walleye/pike trip and used like 3x. Went to try and way Botha BIG crappie and LMB when this issue occurred. NO MORE BERKLEY scales as this is the 2nd one I’ve had to discard!
