I returned the first one back to Benchmade as the axis lock would not fully seat forward. I can tolerate a lot of things, but a half lockup on a $400 knife is not one of them. No big deal, I waited for the other one to show up and the exact same problem on that one. The lock bar is barely interfacing with the back of the blade and prematurely hitting the stop pin. I really really like the look of the knife and the 940 is one of, if not my favorite Benchmade ever. So I sent it in to Benchmade and I am hoping for it to come back with better lockup. But they should not be sent out with the lockup issues that I had. For the sake of everyone else, I hope that I just got two duds and everyone else got better luck than me. But considering they were both duds, I am not too sure. The lasermarkings were also crooked on the blade. A small nitpick for sure, but for $400, I would really like to see perfect lasermarkings and if you are only making 1500 of them, putting “limited edition” on the blade would be logical. But I could care less about any of that if the action was correct, I can’t believe someone looked at the knives that I got and sent them out for that price point. I have a TON of Benchmades and this one was shocking. Not a single other of my Benchmades had this bad of lockup, including a burnt copper 940 with the same blade, coating, and everything. It seems like they put blue fatcarbon scales on a regular 940 magnacut blade, jacked the price up and didnt make sure the coating didnt interfere with the action. I have a coated magnacut Mini Taggedout and it has the coating removed so the axis lock has room to slide forward all the way. Maybe it should have been done on this one as well. A lot of my Benchmades have mini flaws I can forgive (blade play, off center blade, hotspots, crooked markings, poor bevel grinds), but not for this price and not for as bad as the lockup and laserwork is. Very eye opening for me. Ever since I got my Mini Adamas in magnacut it has been my go to EDC. The I picked this up and it hasn't left my pocket. I really find the reverse tanto perfect for work.
