You have to push the knife into the sheath, release the trigger on the sheath and then pull knife out. Knife is compact size but well designed with a grippy handle that doesn’t slip, even when I’m wearing gloves. The sheath holds the knife securely but it’s still easy to pull out quickly when needed. I also like that the mounting straps are large enough to mount onto any part of my leg. \n\nA bit pricey when it comes to dive knives but can feel reassured this knife will hold up to countless underwater adventures. Had my first dive with it this week. Used the line cutter side to remove some old fishing line that was tangled around some coral. To test it I even used in to get some barnacles off the hull of our boat. It doesn't wiggle in the sheath, and stays in well. Which was a concern initially.
