The older style had a back vented area just below the waistline along the hips in the back of the shorts. The new style doesn't seem to stay in place on my hips. They had lots of pockets, looked cute especially with the stitching detail in the back and the best part was the shorts did not ride up at all which is something I’ve struggled to find in other shorts. I wore those shorts until they finally ripped apart and bought the 2.0 version expecting the same great experience and I was completely disappointed. The new version rides up the thighs when you run and does not look or feel as nice as the original design. There is also less pockets and a tie string for the waistband, both of which I feel like did not improve the new version, it feels like a step back. My biggest complaint though is that the new design causes the shorts to ride up and the fit doesn’t look as nice (took away the stitch detail along the back of the shorts).
