Yes an aggressive fish will smack it but I've watched some monster jumbo perch give it a look and nope they won't touch it because its not what there used to. Also it should come rigged with a quality ball bearing swivel for the line to spoon connection. And lastly should only be equipped with 1 single good hook not trebble hook you end up wasting more time trying to unhook fish or the net when the fish twists all round ,I took dykes and cut 2 of the 3 hooks off and it swims way better when dragging a minnow .
