I am generally a size medium average but in the mid length coat I need a size XL to layer comfortably underneath but in the long length I needed a size L as the XL was way too big. Something to keep in mind. It's is very sleeping bag-esque but when that really cold New England weather hits I'll be thankful my legs are covered. I am thrilled with this parka. It checks all the boxes. In addition, it is just slightly fitted at the top and a little wider at the bottom so I can actually walk comfortably in it but not look like a walking triangle. The quality is what you would expect of The North Face.
