I persisted and finished the build and was immensely satisfied with the outcome even with the road bumps. I would overly recommend this set to LOTR fans and people who love Lego. However, this set came with the wrong capes for the minifigs, and it has been an absolute pain to get the correct ones. The Sauron cape is exclusive to this set, so I can't just get a replacement on Amazon. I put in a parts request over a month ago and haven't received anything. It is sent via normal USPS with no tracking. I could sell a Magic card on eBay for $1.50, and the envelope would have tracking. Why this isn't standard for replacement parts on a $500 set, I have no idea. Of course, I enjoy Lego Architecture, so many small similar-colored pieces are great for me. This things is an absolute monster, both in size and appearance. I had no idea just how big and detailed it is. The thought and design that went into this is mind-blowing. I am building the entire LOTR collection and so far have this, Rivendell, and The Shire. The repeated features didn't feel repetitive while building it, and the ability to separate the tower into segments is amazing for both viewablity/playing, and for transporting it without risk of dropping the while thing. So I added teeth plates to top of the walls, smooth 1x4 and torches to the faces of the walls and smoothed out the bridge. Looks much better and more menacing. Also added LED light strip under the build on a simple custom cut base to light the lava. I paid around 600$ for that mini fig and a year plus i'm hearing it will be in a 75$ set of Sauron. Please stop calling set exclusive or how ever you shine a very expensive set up to year plus rerelease a exclusive item. I saved to get my son this set and now the premiere piece is being rereleased. I saved a 1000$ for the Death Star but after seeing it and the fig lineup which maybe 6 i want and 2 quality figs. It looks spectacular on display, the interior has lots of cool rooms and easter eggs, and the mini-figure line-up is very impressive, especially Sauron. It's a solid value too, with 5400+ pieces being a good rate for the price. \n\nMy only quibbles are small: I would've added a Nazgul and maybe one more orc to the mini figures and some of the spikes on the outside of the tower can come off a bit easily.
