My theory is some of them have bad QC on the latches and will just bind and since they are weak plastic they break. We used it for the first time and the latch didn't want to release we let it sit for well over a minute and it still was bound up, it opened roughly and worked for another sealing and bound up again, again we left it for about a minute and still not releasing at which time the latch broke. Can't warranty it as it was a gift purchased months before opening and then was not take out or the box for another few months... that's on us but still a poor design. I was replacing my old sealer thinking I was trading up. The sealing bar was flawed from the day I purchased it and I had to replace it. Now it does not stop pumping and seal on its own.
