For years we used a mixer attachment grinder to grind store bought cuts of meat to make our own hamburgers, sausage, and just ground meat. That grinder was pretty slow, the pieces had to be fairly small and it was wearing out my mixer motor. We finally decided to purchase a stand alone grinder. Originally we ordered an inexpensive one from a large online retailer, but it was missing an essential part and the retailer was unable to send us the part. We would have to pack up the behemoth and return it because there was absolutely no contact information for the manufacturer. Back it went, and we were once again on the hunt for a grinder that would perform well for years for our family. We came across LEM in our research and loved the positive reviews of the product, company, and customer service. We decided the #8 BigBite would serve our needs well. It arrived quickly and was well packaged. We are impressed by the product's quality and weight. It grinds large pieces so quickly that I can't keep up with it. It is easy to disassemble and clean (other than the white plastic piece inside that you have to hammer out), and makes far less noise than I would expect from such a beefy machine. I love that the power switch is covered so it doesn't get icky if you happen to touch it with raw meat hands. It's a heavy machine, so I don't haul it out if I'm only going to grind a couple chicken breasts, but it can run through a couple pork shoulders in no time. It takes me longer to cut the pieces than it takes the machine to grind them. We also purchased a foot pedal controller, and I love the convenience of that. If you're considering buying a grinder, seriously think about adding the foot pedal to your cart as well.
