The current model feels like a softshell pant... likely excelling in durability at the expense of what was my go-to hiking and trekking pant to a more climbing oriented use case. \n\nI have had the same pair of gamma pants for ~10yrs. I mailed them back to Arc'teryx expecting to have the same materials in the new model. Very disappointed in the switch. These pants are a spin off of the Palisade pant and have been great up to now. No more rear pockets, why? Only one size pocket, why? And material that releases microplastics during every wash, why? Whoever thought this was a good idea needs fired. Bring back the previous version. Or better yet, bring back the Palisade pant. They look great, they’re extremely comfortable and the sizing is spot on. I take a flak for the subtle logo on the thigh but who cares. They transition from the office to the field quite well and without extraneous flaps and pockets. I also own the same model purchased a couple of years ago, and that pair has proven to be extremely durable. One key difference I noticed is that the older pair was made in Indonesia, while this newer pair was made in Vietnam. My only gripe is the terrible button snap closure. It always comes undone even when the pants are loose. I'm not sure the aversion to having a normal push through button closure. It would be more secure and feel a bit more stylish. Arc should use the closure system introduced on the new Serratus pants.
