I just received the latest version in Tatsu, which is so nice, the best colorway in my opinion. I have the Thorium Hoody, the Beta AR and the Cerium Hoody all in Tatsu, such great pieces to own. My first Thorium Hoody was back in 2022. For me, the repurchase is worth it for the design upgrades. That being the two dump pockets and the hood is now DOWN and not fully Coreloft as the earlier design. The only Coreloft in the hood now is just around the brim of the face and a small three inch by four inch section, which is new, that now covers the back draw string cinch and grommet from shedding water. I would say the hood is now in my unscientific estimation of being 85% down and 15% Coreloft, a real upgrade from the previous version. The sizing is the exact same as the previous version in the medium size. I love the Thorium Hoody so much, such a great piece to have in my arsenal that includes ten different Arc'teryx jackets. I have a cerium LT hoodie now and needed something for when its super cold. Love the fit of this in a medium - few issues however. The front zipper garage at the neckline is too tight - the zipper cannot get to the top of the collar, and this looks particularly off with the dark magic colorway, as the zipper stands out. The right collar top had some stitching with glue on it that was very hard and cut at my chin/lip every time the jacket was zipped up. My only other feedback would be that the down hood is too tight when not up, and pushes at the back of your head/neck...seems like a design opportunity for sure. It is perfect for my needs in almost every way. I am currently fighting cancer and it seems that I am cold all the time now, but I feel I could face any PNW snowstorm in this bad boy. It’s warm, light, attractive, and has so many cool features like the inner drop pockets and the fantastic down hood. The only thing that I can fault it on are the cuff materials. The cuffs are pretty rough and abrasive and starts to bother the skin on my wrists after only a few minutes. I’ve decided that if it is cold enough to be wearing this jacket, I’m more than likely going to be using gloves, which isn’t a full solution, but a simple workaround to save my wrists from the abrasive rubbing. All-in-all, it’s a great jacket and I can’t wait to test it out in more extreme environments. I’m 5’11” and 175 lbs and the large fits absolutely perfectly with a little room for layering. A large mens seems designed for skinny men. tight in the waist hips and arms for me. Also not as warm as I was expecting. Sizing is inconsistent between different styles of coats, so it is challenging unless you go to a store to try different coats on. I am 6’1” 165 and a Medium fits perfectly. Some have complained about shorter sleeves but it’s not noticeable. Would have liked a more tapered mesh sleeve opening, but just wear gloves with a tight seal.\n\nCoat is comfortable, light, breathable, and WARM. Perfect for walking the Huskie in the snow. Hood is so warm you don’t even need a hat. Mouth and neck are comfortably covered.\n\nI spent 12 weeks backpacking through Utah in the middle of the winter. This would have been amazing in the evenings out there.\n\nLooks good. Lots of compliments. Returned","text":"For 15-20 years I have been buying Arcteryx jackets, and I'm a Large every time. I have even had this exact jacked in a previous version in a Large. This time, the Large fits fine around my torso, but the neck is so tight that I can't do the zipper up unless I put the hood up. Even then, the neck is so tight against my face that its incredibly uncomfortable. I don't understand this fit at all. I have four other Arcteryx insulated jacked in my closet and not one of them comes even close to this weird fit. The Thorium isn't even supposed to be a fitted fit. It's listed as a regular fit.
