The shoes were defective — both of my ankles rolled, and I even lost a toenail on each foot while wearing them. My warranty claim was denied, with Hoka claiming I had no proof of purchase, even though it's in my account and the warranty is valid until January. Multiple emails went unanswered. Extremely disappointing. Loved them. Now eight days into our Spain trip. Have trekked through the golden mile of wine country over rocky vineyards, walked miles on ancient cobble stones streets, traversed multiple airports and train stations, walked goat track trails around ancient castles. These things are great. No foot fatigue, great support, and handle very all types of surfaces and grit beautifully. I was hoping there would be more arch support, like the Gaviota's I've been wearing. I can and will insert insoles if needed, but that's a bit disappointing. I'm still getting used to the quick lace system, but it's not a positive feature to me yet. I'm glad there's regular shoelaces included, but as best as I can tell, I have to cut off the quick laces to use the regular shoelaces. So I'm hanging on the quicklace system for a while longer to see if I can adjust to them. \n\nFinally, the soles seem solid and comfortable, not as squishy as other Hokas, and thats good for a hiking shoe. Waterproof GTX, and reserved style with neutral solids which is hard to find with Hoka. I used at the beach in California as well as hikes in the Sierra Nevada, but mostly for a work shoe as a Home Health nurse on the CA Central Coast where I encounter a variety of terrain and plenty of mud, grass, concrete, dirt, sand, etc..and cool moist weather. They served me well. However, they provide zero insulation as I wore them for a few days in the biggest snow storm the mid-West had in Jan. 2025; my feet froze. Furthermore, the outside of the shoe is now worn considerably after 12 months use, and they look old, but still functional. The small Hoka icon is peeling off. The soles are holding up, but hardly any ankle support. Bought them for an upcoming trip to Spain. Wanted something practical for lots of walking but stylish enough to reduce the number of shoes I had to pack. Big fan of slip ons with having to lace. These shoes fit perfectly, provide that Hoka soft landing comfort and look perfect with jeans or for dressier occasions. Even being chucks, they slid on easily but fit securely once on.
