I dont exactly need a protective toe shoe but it has come in handy for both safety and utility. they wear in pretty fast, and last a long time. my oldest pair are still in rotation and after three years they are still holding up well, but totally covered in paint (which is the only reason i dont wear them daily). I have flat feet and the factory insole is serviceable but i would highly recommend getting an upgraded insole. Occasionally i work on roofs and traction is fine there too. they are semi water repellant for working in light rain or walking through wet grass. not much else to say, for the last three years ive bought one-two sets annually and just bought another set.\n\nOverall great. Not the shoe's fault. However, the description claims that these shoes have \"moderate\" arch support. Well, if you're comparing them to Converse, *maybe,* and if by \"moderate\" they mean \"zero. \" I put in Keen's utility inserts, and this helped, but foot and leg fatigue are persistent. The upper material is rigid and strong, a canvas and suede combo, and it took a while for the shoes to break in, and I have found it worth the wait. I use these to mountain bike in sometimes, actually, because of their rigidity and the fact that they are ankle high and the hard toe keeps my feet warm. \nI must add, too, that I work in a very hard-on-the-shoes warehouse, where my all-leather hiking shoes wore out within a year. As in: there were deep cuts, and one went straight through to the gore-tex membrane.\nAlmost 6 months after wearing these shoes both at work and on mountain bike rides, they look barely used. The rubber outsole is very resistant to the metal corners and edges that I work around, and the sole itself is slip resistant. Whatever kind of rubber or sealant that covers the toe is also incredibly tough.\nWe'll see how the shoes handle the wet, cold winter that's coming, but I have to say that so far, these shoes are fantastic. \nFor context, I work in a package facility, where i mostly handle boxes and move around - as i said - metal edges and corners and heavy things drop on my feet almost everyday, multiple times within a shift. So now I have loose boots. I’m returning for a size 10 though because they are very roomy in the toe box and quite nice looking.
