You certainly get what you pay for with the Mountain Extremes. I was hesitant with the height of the boots because I had always hiked with a lower rise boot but the Mountain Extremes broke in very quickly and are easily the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. I hiked with them this year for 3 weeks out in Montana and Wyoming in good weather as well as in rainy conditions. They held up great and kept my feet dry and protected. I’m normally a 9. 5 in boots and was in the Mountain Extremes as well. They may have a bit more room than some of my past boots but I would call them true to size especially with an appropriate boot sock like Darn Tough or something similar.
