I selected the L/XL based on the size chart. I wear a 36-38 waste. If I put this belt on loosely there is 10+ inches of belt still hanging and there is not way to secure it other than belt loops on pants/shorts. There should be another size option. It states that it is for 35\"-42\" waste. When fully extended (not stretched at all) the belt measures 48\". A 42\" waist would still have 6 inches of extra belt easily.
