My passion for wilderness travel started in a canoe 40 years ago. I have seen the evolution of a lot of gear. The Switch is the stove I have been waiting for for a long time. I have been selling jetboil for years and just wasn’t satisfied with the overall build quality. The switch is an extremely durable, pragmatic and extremely effective stove. I have seen a few reviews and the only negatives that I have seen are baseless. I don’t count seconds and I don’t care about useless gadgets. I’ve always wanted something that was robust durable and efficient. This one checks all of the boxes. It is a complete Cook system that is very well thought out and with MSR’s long history of design evolution this one checks the box perfectly. Between wilderness canoe trips, kayak expeditions, backpacking and bike packing this is the perfect stove. Generally we move fast and light and for those times we want to get cooking some fancy food we just use an open fire. My favorite feature is the built-in retractable pot stands. I have made some incredible omelettes in my mini frying pan. I am finally retiring my original pocket rocket I bought a couple of decades ago which still works absolutely flawlessly. Proof is in the pudding. Doesn’t matter of fact everything that I’ve ever owned from MSR has been bombproof. The integral pot boils fast and has good features missing on the wind burner (cork insulator and foldable pot handles). It has a piezo ignitor that is convenient. I like the stoves flexibility to heat water, yet allow the addition of a pot for other food options. Very light. Another issue I'd when snow camping water collects at the bottom of the pot, dripping directly on the burner. Heating snow was a challenge as the dripping kept putting the flam out.
