I have the XL Freedom Aluminum Door, 2 back to back to install in a wall. I have 40# Border Collies and a 100# Great Dane. In less than 2 months the side of the edge outside flap ripped. I purchased a new replacement flap thinking it was a one off bad piece. Then the opposite side edge on the indoor flap ripped. Easy installation.\r\n1. The flap does not close properly (now that it’s cold, it’s obvious why.\r\n2. The lining around the flap (insulation if you will) has holes in it.\r\n3. Pet safe doesn’t offer replacement lining so not only does the flap not close properly, when I make it as closed as I can, air comes through those holes and the flap seems to be a touch big (this is the small flap). \r\nI’m so disappointed. The dog door goes through a brick wall and is a medium size and bless the Dobie's heart it belly crawls through it. We also live in the country so coyotes, neighbor's dogs, deer, rabbits, skunks, lots of birds, etc. cause our dogs to go nuts at all hours and the chunky medium one and the Dobie always run full blast through the dog door to protect us. Numerous times a day plus the normal trips! We expect this dog door to wear out. And we feel your product holds up extremely well considering the use it gets. I've had this door insert, the large size, for about 7 years. We have had between 4 and 7 dogs the entire time. From a 6 lb Chihuahua to a 135 lb Pyrenees. Everybody able to get in and out easily. So there is a lot of use. I will be contacting customer support because now the magnetic strip at the bottom is broken. When I review all the information on the site I don't get a sense that part is available. That said I'd be surprised if I'm the first person that is run into the situation. I've already ordered some more flaps but can't seem to get to an answer on website about how to get the magnetic strip. I found it very frustrating to install. Trying to hold the flap and bar against the metal piece while inserting a screw from the interior side was almost impossible for one person to accomplish.
