Does the same thing as a roller, but I like not having to contort on the floor.to get to my hot spots. I don't find it useful on calves because it's hard for me to get at the muscle without getting too close to the shin bone and ankle/Achilles. Maybe because I'm a smaller person? I'm 5'1, 110. I also tried it on my tennis elbow like I've seen on some YouTubes, which also felt like a bad idea.
