That said, the quality really impressed me. The material feels sturdy, the sole is durable, and the overall construction looks built for real outdoor use. I wish they were taller however as they beat up my labradors dew claws as the strap sits right on the dew claw knuckle and rubbed them raw and I suspect the reason she lost one of them as they had a tendency to slide off below her claw. The rear also rubbed her ankle area raw but at least stayed on. maybe a sock or some stretchy tape around her ankle/dew claw would have helped. I was tempted to size up as she measured exactly 2.25 on the front and 2 on the rear but guidance stated to size down to keep them secure. Three Dobermans, one Greyhound, and now our second Standard Poodle we have broken down and ordered our second set of Grip Trex. These boots are terrific. Because of length of toenails (my fault) the toe of a couple of the boots is splitting out, the Velcro doesn’t adhere as well, and the soles are showing there wear. I can’t tell, or even imagine, how many miles these boots have on them, but who cares, these are the best boot, in my opinion, on the market. I am 77 years young. I plan to buy our third set in 2030. The booties would last around two hundred miles of backpacking.\nUnfortunately, todays RuffWear booties are way too small. They stay on, protect their feet and don’t rub or chafe. My Poodle has shaved Poodle feet. From May to October, we use these boots on every outing due to heat. This is daily use. My dogs are service dogs, so the shoes get lots of wear.
