{"reviews":[{"id":7080192,"locale":"en_US","rating":2,"title":null,"text":"I’m giving this 2 stars, as this is a pretty looking item and is good as a rack for 1 bike; however it is not good for 2 bikes. This is due to a critical design flaw that should be fixed. I’d strongly recommend affixing the top to the wall for the reasons I’ll go through below. This is not a good option for a freestanding bike rack. The unit comes in 2 pieces - a base for the first bike, and a top for the second bike. These 2 pieces come together with a plastic insert, in which you slide the top over the insert, and screw 2 screws (one for each portion of the frame) into the plastic. The screws are not long enough to go through the entirety of the piece and out the back, leaving holes in the back. The instructions indicate a metal bracket that these screws should go through, which doesn’t exist. Under a 28lb load, the top of this unit leans forward by no less than 10 degrees. I’ve reached out to support with these concerns and they sent me a new unit after I thought I’d received a defect. There is no metal backing plate in either box as appeared in the instructions. The screws aren’t long enough to go through it anyways. After putting together the new unit, and torquing down every screw to as tight as can be without stretching the bolts, it still significantly leans forward. This is not good - the load imparted by the bend is being placed on a plastic insert, which over time will fail. Now that I’m critically reviewing this piece, if you look closely at this listing’s photos on slide 4, you can see the angle from the load from the bike on top. Specifically, the dissimilar angle between the base and the top. That is the only photograph of this unit not from the front in which you can see the top leaning forward under load. This unit is rated for up to 35lb bikes. I wouldn’t trust more than 10lbs up there. It’s becoming increasingly frustrating to be a consumer, and this is adding to that frustration. I’m asking you to consider redesigning this product before someone is injured. It’ll cost you nearly nothing per unit to include 2 extra nuts, longer screws, and a backing plate to reinforce the joint between the 2 units. It looked great in our apartment but after 2 years of use all 3 out of 4 of the grips on the arms are broken. We contacted Saris in 2020 and that part of the product was not under warranty.
