Gimping was actually fantastic and not too rough (excluding the flipper tab, WAY TOO MUCH). However, I really wish that the handle was made of G10 or Micarta instead of GRN. The GRN handle scales I received were of poor quality and varied in exact fit to the knife. They felt almost 3D printed, and not in a good way. The plastic parts that move the axis bar were all loose or misfitting ever so slightly and there was excess plastic that should have been sanded off still clinging to one of the handles scales. If SOG made G10 handle scales for this knife that could be purchased individually, I'd pick them up in a heartbeat. Something that surprised me was how balanced it felt in hand between the blade and the handle. It feels lighter than its actual weight. That being said there is the occasional lock stick and right after I bought it full price they discounted it for Presidents Day. I’d say the Presidents Day price is the right price and that this knife and its other versions are overpriced. Overall an ok buy for this price, which is why I give it 4 stars. The lock mechanism is awesome and secure, the design is exquisite, the manuverability and grip are truly for professional tactical personnel. This version takes it up another level, Titanium and Magnacut are dream scenarios for knife connoisseurs. Props to the SOG executive that allowed this project, remaking an amazing product with improved materials is better than introducing a new one. I personally think the swapable scales is unnecessary, but there are several other knives about with optional add-on scales costing over $200 for one scale, so people like this. Same with clips.
