This thing can saw through 12\" trunks. I've actually used it to section trees that big across. Notch in front, then back cut, pound in a Stihl wedge, then pull down the crown. If there is a fallen tree or branch across the trail, it is very quick duty to cut a section out and clear the trail. The saw is razor sharp, and goes through hard dead oak, when other saws appear to just glide and not cut. I purchased this pruning saw to trim the lower branches of the trees (in wildfire country we call them \"ladder fuels\"). This saw cuts cleanly and quickly through branches up to 3\" in diameter, whether dry, wet or green. I also purchased a Stihl 900 Pole pruner to take care of larger and higher branches (the widow-makers). That allows me to cut branches and trim trees up to 15 or more feet off the ground. I have 4 Stihl chain saws and several other Stihl products. All are of superb quality (German engineering) and reliable. It works very well. I have cut branches up to 4 inchs and it worked flawlessly. It is light weight and extremely sharp. Mine states that it was made in Japan and the quality shows it.\r\n\r\nThe blade has not bent even when a limb’s weight pinches it. The blade’s angle allows for powerful cutting stroke without putting your weight down. It was lost in the woods so I re-ordered this new one and it isn't nearly as good a saw. Cuts very well with great ease. Unlike other cheaper saws that I have, this one doesn't bind. I recommend the leather sheath. The teeth are very sharp. I also like the saw for its fine cut.
