Out of the box it is fine with what appears to be about .45 mm depth setting. Just like it’s predecessor chain pmn. Now look at the spec on the box .65 mm just like big boy chain for large powerful saws intended for cutting large diameter wood. Guys this is a huge liability. Try setting the depth gauges (rakers) at .65 and then touch a small branch which is the sales point of the saws and pole pruners this chain is intended for. KICKBACK!!!!! I have this on my MS 170 tried it out today. I had a MS 291 with a 20” bar and the RM yellow chain and it was aggressive and would really eat. I took my 170 with this green link chain and that’s low kickback and plunge cut (bore) into a hard 14” maple log with little to no effort. I bought a extra one today for a back up. Had no issues filing with a few stokes of a file it was back to factory sharpness. This was after hitting barbed wire inside the trunk. The chain is still razor sharp after 2 years of “homeowner use”. I use Stihl Platinum Bar Oil in the machine and with the use and storage it still looks new. The chain cut well in the stringy palm wood without clogging up as well as the “normal” fiber outs woods of the north east. This is a well built pro grade product that performs well in all the conditions I’ve expected it to be used. I would recommend it to anybody looking for a long lasting, easy cutting chain for a pole saw or smaller chainsaw. It also has the advantage of being a low kickback design for added safety with the saws.
