We had an unusually large mosquito problem on our 2-acre property. You couldn't stand outside 2 minutes without getting eaten alive. A friend, who has a pest control business, recommended this machine and the appropriate pesticide and insect growth regulator. I fogged with this machine and the mosquitos disappeared. Not a mosquito bite since. We also have a large hickory tree in our front yard that is attacked every year by tent catapillars. I've never had a device capable of getting insecticide high enough to kill them. Well, I took the diffuser off the nozzle of the SR 450 and I could get chemical at least 50 ft up in the tree. (The optional pressure pump is installed.) No more tent catapillers. Great product. Nice wide place to add the water and concentrate. Easy to control the on and off of the liquid coming out. Only slight con I have is the weight, between machine and two gallons of mix it is quite heavy or I just need to get stronger, once the bag pack is on it is fine but getting it on is the taxing part. After donating enough blood to their cause i enlisted a mosquito service and while it worked. It was short lived and once a month on their schedule wasn’t enough and had to up it to twice a month and even then it wasn’t worth the cost. I spoke with a friend that sprayed himself and realized a sprayer would easily pay for itself in one season. Went looking for the SR 430 and came home with the SR 450 because that is what they had. Even at its premium to the 430 it would still pay for itself and that includes the cost of chemicals. It takes me maybe 20-30 minutes to finish my yards and that includes filling it and spraying. But being able to spray when needed in prep for when you know you’re going to be outside and want to enjoy it, is worth it in my book. I find the lack of the pump not to be an issue with the 450 but not say I won’t add one later. As a sprayer it seems to have plenty of power to push it out there. The air director caps are nice and find myself using the one that sprays up mainly since that is where the little blood suckers like to hide under the leaves. Now you can pop off the spray nozzle and pop on a traditional end nozzle - usually your dealer will have extras laying around just have to find the right one to fit. It makes a decent blower and paired with my br 86 in the other hand that is almost 20yr old they can handle my needs. It starts like a stihl pretty darn quick. I do find once you start it you have to give it some gas or it will die but once you give it that little bit it is good to go! Thankfully, I’ve never had the 450 leak on me. When fully loaded its handles top heavy when putting it on as you could imagine with 4gallons liquid up top. On the back the weight is fine and handles nicely. Put it on a table or truck bed and start it there. It’s not perfect but add the ability to start it while on the back and it would be pretty darn close. Only other thing is being able to see how much is left in the reservoir while on the back - not a big deal. I wear a full face mask when spraying - Would I buy it again, absolutely! Being able to enjoy our yard with the family and kids is worth it.
