It's been almost a month now and even after approx. 50 miles it still has one annoying issue, it keeps throwing the chain off the front derailleur! The chain scratched the pedal crank all the way to bare metal! I took the bike back to the shop to see if an adjustment would fix the issue, and the tech told me it was the way I was shifting! Funny, I don't have that issue with my Cannondale. The Marlin 4 Gen 2 is an O.K. bike, and since it's on the lower end of the price spectrum, I'll cut it some slack. I think the engineer's back at the Trek factory need to redesign the front derailleur, as it has an inherent design flaw in it. I got this bike thinking Trek wouldn't sell a bike that looks like a mountain bike and it be low quality. Well after I rode it at home I did more research on the Marlin line and came to find out this bike is only good for light trails. It just doesn't feel solid even jumping off of a curb. Luckily, Trek has great customer service and they allowed me to exchange it for a Roscoe 8. I love the Roscoe 8 and would only consider the Marlin a bike for riding around town and some gravel.
