Women's Kuhl Frost Hooded Softshell Jacket

The one drawback is that it doesn’t have a two way zipper (you can’t unzip the bottom and I like that feature when I can find it). The sleeves allow for a good range of movement; there’s a roomy hood and sleeves with thumbless extensions for days you don’t want mittens but need that extra warmth. I love it – it’s sleek without a lot of bulky pockets (there are two outer pockets, one of which has a second pocket inside) and the color – plum with orange lining – is gorgeous. I wear it for racewalking and with a baselayer, it is nice and warm without being heavy. It fits very well and is quite flattering and is a nice mid-weight jacket. It doesn't accommodate a thick layer underneath so it's a fall/spring jacket in the PNW. I had originally ordered it in \"Ganache\" because it looked maroon on the website and the lining never showed. When it arrived I realized it was brown with a yellow-ish lining - not something that would go with my predominately gray wardrobe. It ticks all the boxes. It’s comfortable, with fabric that stretches as I move, and has room underneath for a layer or two. While not waterproof it is definitely water-resistant and repels the rain effectively, keeping me dry, and the hood provides additional protection from the wet. I love the zippered hand pockets for securely stowing my keys and phone plus the interior pockets for additional storage. The fit is flattering and hits just below my hips. I’m 5’3”, 124 pounds, average build, and the medium fits me perfectly. I wish the zipper was two-way but otherwise this is just what I was looking for. It’s great for outdoor activities and travel. I am very picky about my gear and I am very happy with this jacket. I usually wear a women's 10 or medium, petite whenever possible. The large fit me best in the shoulders and chest. The arms are a little long but it is manageable to me. I wore the jacket on a long dog walk during a steady rain - I was very comfortable and kept dry.
