These come pretty dang close. I wore them to summit Mt. Whitney this summer and to backpack in the Enchantments, in addition to lots of other day hikes.\n\nHere's why I love them: the stretch is good, the high waistband is so comfy and flattering, and the POCKETS are perfect!! Drop in with zipper is so much better than the angled, non-zippered ones on the regular dynama pant. Pockets can hold my iPhone 17 pro sideways - so that's great! And the fabric is so good at wicking sweat and is very breathable.\n\nWhy they're not perfect: The length is just a little too short and I'm 5'4\". I get that this is supposed to be an ankle pant, but I mainly bought it for the high stretchy waistband + pockets vs. the regular dynama and I'm making do with the length. This isn't a huge issue for me but I do wish they came down to my shoe tops. The stretch is REALLY stretchy. Like after a day of backpacking my pants are falling down - they need to be washed to regain shape, which makes them not great for trips longer than a night. I love these pants so much that this is my 7th pair ( new color). These are nice and roomy in the thighs and calves, which is often an issue for me. They have a comfortably fitted upper hip and waist- quite flattering. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw there were new colors out in 2025 to add to my collection. I was at first a little confused and then pretty much disheartened when I realized the newer cut (includes the color Warm Ash) was so much larger in the thigh, cut rather too high in the waist so now it sits a couple inches even higher and is longer in the seam. However the waist and calf size is still the same so it's not like i can size down.
