Women's Teva Grandview GORE-TEX Hiking Boots

I do daily trail walking/light hiking and they're great for that. Very comfortable and supportive, and they've held up well. My feet feel happy in them. However water has always leaked in from where the leather and mesh meet on the widest part of the boot. Also, if the mesh toe top gets wet it absorbs the water, it doesn't roll off. If it's cold out, I feel the cold water through the boot on my toes even if they don't get wet. I don't think it's due to age, they've always been this way. They could be a little wider at the widest point, IMO. I am 7.5, wide foot small heel, high arches. I got size 8 and can't wear them with thick socks. Any larger and they'd be too long in the toe. You can't adjust the boot any wider with laces due to the tongue and sides being attached to be \"waterproof.\" But the toe box is great, nice and roomy. One last complaint: the low ankle is comfortable and supportive, but wide open so lots of dirt, sand, gravel can kick up into them. The blue is *chefs kiss*. Unfortunately they didn't fit at all. So I'm a 7.5 in tevas hurricane sandals. I ordered an 8 with the boot. The length was fine but the width was a little too tight. I have wider feet for a lady fyi. But the reason I had to return was the seam on the upper part of the foot, where the toe piece connects to the mid area. It was painfully digging into my foot just walking around my house. These felt pretty good out of the box, but a hiking trip to Yosemite was too much for them, and I did only 3 days of easy to moderate trails.. These are more like turbo-charged sneakers, which is ok for around town or a short couple hours hike. The lower ankle height meant nonstop small rocks and dirt getting into my boots and there just isn't enough cushioning or stability for a long day of hiking up or down inclines. They were comfortable from the outset, felt soft inside, and gave very good footing as we clambered up a rock face. I didnt need any time to break these in either which was great - i wore them on an 8 mile hike one day on loose gravel, through water and they were perfect and gave me the support i needed, feet didnt slide forward really either. I wear a size 10 all the time but with hiking boots i've heard to size up 1/2 a size. I stuck with a 10 and i'm glad i did because these fit perfect and the wide toe area gives me the room i need.
