Ways We Care
Athletics
SCHEELS understands the importance of health in both mind and body. We recognize that participating in sports programs offers benefits and lessons that carry over to all aspects of life. SCHEELS supports all types of athletics by sponsoring various athletic programs across our communities for youth, high school, and college-age athletes. This commitment to maintaining excellence, organization, and availability of athletic programs has brought communities together and developed a sports experience participants will translate into their lives through everyday values and a sense of teamwork.
Education
SCHEELS realizes that education is not only important to the future of our youth and young adults but also to the future of our communities. One method of supporting education is by helping students explore learning outside the classroom. Our stores proudly host field trips and other learning opportunities for area schools. Students enjoy learning by participating in the "Walk of Presidents" as well as seeing the animals throughout the store. We believe hands-on learning offers a memorable experience and allows students to achieve a better understanding of the topic.
Conservation
Our SCHEELS associates and in-store experts are dedicated to teaching and building awareness related to conservation. SCHEELS provides opportunities to learn about the outdoors with programs like The Refuge Garden Project, youth fishing outings, and hunters’ safety classes. We volunteer our time because we see the benefits of education within our communities, and we want to instill knowledge and skills that are needed for safety and fun outdoors. Through events, programs, and external partnerships, SCHEELS encourages outdoor passions for people of all ages.
Social Services and Health
SCHEELS understands the hardships that certain medical conditions bring and values the time and effort put into medical research. That is why we participate in bake sales, silent auctions, in-store promotions, and events to raise money for research and funding. From Breast Cancer to Cerebral Palsy, SCHEELS gladly donates resources to cover medical expenses, fund research, and find a cure. Our quiet involvement in these causes has made an impact on people within many communities.
Donations
SCHEELS knows the value of giving back to causes and organizations that support our communities. That’s why we donate between 8 and 10% of our profits annually to organizations in our local communities and ask that they use the money wisely to create lasting change. Donations and sponsorships are allocated store-by-store, allowing each store to choose which organizations and events to support in their community. SCHEELS supports a wide variety of local organizations from veterans services to community athletic programs.
Partnering With United Way
SCHEELS takes pride in its dedicated associates who actively contribute to the United Way, consistently giving back to the communities around each of our locations through impactful initiatives each year. The United Way is a national network of nearly 1,300 local organizations focused on advancing education, income, and health. By working together, communities can create a brighter future. SCHEELS partners with the United Way to ensure children succeed in school, families achieve financial stability, and people maintain good health, all for a better tomorrow.
