Biting bugs and hot sun require a solution you can wear. The BugStopper® Solarflex® Hoodie is the answer, sheltering you from both. InsectShield® technology protects you from the swarms, while the lightweight, breathable UPF50 fabric keeps you cool when the day turns tropical. Protection also comes with added comfort thanks to a smooth flat-seam construction, mobility promoting raglan sleeves, and a trusty fulltime hood.
Such a high demand for these big stopper sun protection shirts. Xl sold out at Simms and bass pro shop and pretty much everywhere else I looked. Feel lucky to have found one at Scheels. Haven't had a chance to test it. But reviews are all thumbs up. and with the difficulties of getting one. I'm thinking should be a good invite 🤞
I love this hoodie on hot days. Material is lightweight and extremely breathable while still offering outstanding sun protection. Hood fits great and offers full sun protection around your neck. I wouldn't buy anything else for summer heat adventures this is it period. People may find these to run large compared to other clothing. Personally I wear a medium and I'm 5"5 165lbs
Took four BugStopper Hoddies to the McKenzie River, Labrador in 2019 and will be taking the same four to Alaska this summer.. Comfortable sun and bug protection that I use for all outdoor bug adventures.
Great looking shirt with great fit. But inside regular white color of Hood makes shirt look terrible when worn because the plain white inside of the hoody does not match any other colors of shirt. Other companies have been matching the inside color of the hoody with a mesh that matches the rest of the shirt. Plain white color inside of hoody makes shirt look cheap and unattractive
I got the 2 XL and it is a little roomier than I had hoped for as I wear an XL normally. I like having it a little larger so that I can layer underneath it as things cool off. Wore it all day in the sun and it performed awesome. No bugs on this guy.
This is perhaps the greatest invention in the history of the outdoors. I was camping deep in the north country lakeside in mid-June. I've never weathered more bugs in my life. I had to bug dope my hands and face and even wear glasses to keep them from my eyes. I did not get one single bite through this shirt and it's likely that I would have needed to abandon camp without my trusty bug stopper shirt. It was a staple for my entire two week trip. On top of all that it's comfortable and lightweight. Do yourself a favor and buy one. -Jim
Spend many hours at a nearby Wyoming lake with an aggressive population of deer/horseflies. Have been bitten through with other shirts, but not with my bugstopper solarflex. They leave me alone. Fabulous on those still, toasty days. Light and comfortable with good solar protection so I can concentrate on that healthy population of rainbows.
Absolute game changer technology per usual from Simms. Only way to survive the mosquito season in Colorado. My friends were covered and getting bit though their clothes. I managed to get out with no bites on many occasions when others received tons of mosquito bites. Comfy & great for hot days. The shirt wears down a bit fast from my G4 shift pack but that’s the only downside. The shirt is a bit wide at the bottom. Overall amazing product like nothing I’ve ever seen for dealing with bugs.
This shirt is just plain awesome. I had it on several 85-90 degree days and was very comfortable and absolutely no pests. On a few occassions I had the hood down and herd the mosquitos flying around my ears. I put the hood up, problem solved. Excellent product! The fit is perfect!
One of my favorite pieces that I wear, I own 3 different colors and rotate them through out the week. Great fit and really help keep the bugs away. I hate wearing bug spray and the hoodie is my secret weapon to keep mosquitoes away. The hood fits perfect as well, great piece Simms nice work!
I’m on the water 6-7 days a week all year. Anytime the sun is out, I’ve got one of these bad boys on. My arms didn’t get burned one bit like they did the previous years from summer sun. If I could give them more stars, I would. Thanks for a great product.
Comfortable, durable, lightweight, functional (except for the Bugstopper part). A good buy. I've worn this hoody on the river for about 40-50 days so far and it has held up well. Soft and comfortable through many washings. The Bugstopper feature seemed to work through maybe 1 or 2 washings but that's all. The fabric is so lightweight that bugs can easily bite you through it so I've been treating it with permethrin during the buggy season.
I"ve been a pocketed fishing shirt guy, but I raft row/fish a lot ...with the PFD on this layer protects me from sun and bugs and doesn't bind up with the pfd on hot days. Bonus...the hoodie cuts out the noise a bit when Mr. W. decides to be a blowhard.
Awesome against bugs. Great for spring/summer in Texas river bottoms where driving a 4 wheeler out at night everything is covered with bugs but this shirt. If you decide to make them in the camo to match the gloves I will add a pair for bow hunting in the same woods. My fishing buddy is a pest controller and agreed they worked against the river bugs as well. I had to buy him one. Seems funny wearing a Simms item down a muddy Texas river running catfish lines but they made the grade.
The insect shield WORKS! I was amazed at how well it repels mosquitoes. They bothered my legs but never touched my upper body and would buzz near the fabric and immediately leave. The SolarFlex is a great shirt for fishing or even everyday wear. Highly recommend this line!
