When engaged, the BaitStriker Switch allows the spool to have a controlled "free-spool" function. This means the line can be pulled off the spool with very little resistance, which is essential for a subtle bite when the rod is set in a holder (aka deadstick).

When a fish bites and runs, it pulls line off the reel. Since the drag is essentially bypassed in this mode, the fish feels almost no resistance, which can encourage it to fully commit to the bait.

The system will instantly re-engage the reel's main drive and drag system when the angler picks up the rod and turns the handle. This allows the angler to immediately set the hook and fight the fish using the full power of the reel and its set drag.
