It's like a ledge in the middle of your foot, and then a drop towards your toes. You have to step on the edge of a ledge every time you take a step. Also, they are extremely narrow. Walked for 10 minutes, and started having my toes rubbing against the shoes. I have narrow feet. These shoes are ridiculously narrow. I used to love Keen. But, I feel like they lost the thing they were known for: comfort. They fit great. But, I don't know if I will keep them due to the weird arch support . It feels like they dig into the middle of your foot, like it's a ledge in the middle, then a drop. it hurt to stand with the crappy insoles that come with this shoe. I switched out the insole to a Dr. Scholl's Gel insole , meant for standing/walking/long periods of time. It was a a bit more bearable switching out. I'm going to try a short walk with them on later, and if it doesn't feel like it can be broken in , and hurts after, I'm returning them. Especially, since I purchased them for my upcoming trip to Tokyo, where I will be walking a ton. I need comfortable shoes. These are cute , but out of the box hurt the bottom with their crappy insoles.
