It's right for you if...
You're testing the waters of off-road riding, and want a real mountain bike at a great value, with a wide range of gears to cover more ground on the road and trail.

The tech you get
The heart of Marlin 6 is a lightweight Alpha Silver Aluminum frame with internal derailleur routing. It has 24 speeds, a wide-range cassette so you can always find the right gear for your terrain, hydraulic disc brakes that feel smoother than mechanical disc brakes, and a 100mm suspension fork with a lockout feature—that's the same amount of travel favored by most cross country racers.

The final word
Performance features like suspension lockout, stronger double-walled rims, and hydraulic disc brakes. It's also equipped with rack and kickstand mounts and a wider range of gears. These design details make it a great choice if your mountain bike doubles as your commuter.

Very happy with the bike so far
Other than renting a bike at the beach a few years ago, I hadn't been on a bike for 30 years and bought a 2020 Marlin 6 (Alpine Blue) for some exercise and light trail riding. I went with the Marlin 6 because of the hydraulic disk brakes, the 2x8 drivetrain and the lifetime warranty on the frame. That warranty alone is worth the extra money you spend on this bike than a cheaper alternative. The only problems I have with the bike, as stated above in the cons section, is you can't lower the seat as it comes from the factory because of the rivnuts blocking the seat post in the seat tube. The bike also comes with quick release wheels instead of a through axle and a non tapered head tube. The bike is perfect for the type of riding I do, which is pedaling around and taking my time to enjoy nature and friends or using it to commute around.

Great bike with one issue
I'm new to the trails and this bike fit the bill well. With a couple of upgrades (pedals, dropper post) it's a shredder.
I would have given it 5 stars but for one issue. It's marketed as internally routed BUT it's not internally routed into the seat tube for a dropper post. Just internal for gears and brakes. If you want to fit an internal dropper you WILL have to drill the frame. Which I'm sure would invalidate any warranty.
Otherwise I love the bike.

Take it out on dirt trails. Quick run to a nearby store and get in my aerobics in the process.

Absolutely love it!
Being new to MTBing, I was looking for a brand name, proven product at a price that wouldn't set me back in the event I wouldn't like the sport. Also I wanted to buy from a bicycle shop that help with maintenance,
support and future upgrades. My experience has been a good one and am looking forward everyday to ride my bike! Did I mention I was 65 years old?

Great Bike, Good value and Good parts
I use this bike daily for many things, going to school, visiting friends, trails, adventure riding, cruising and much more. Fabulous bike that suits all. Although you cant do really rough terrains on MTB trails, its definitely one of my favourite Hardtails. The rear derailleur does seem a bit flimsy and seem as if trek had a budget for that major component, however it still does the job. Overall, 9/10

This is a good trail bike. I don't do much more than trails, and am not one for jumping. This bike fits me perfectly.

Nice bike, not so sure about the durability of the parts
On the second time out the gears snapped clean off close to the frame. The mechanics at the shop said it was designed to do this as it stopped the frame from snapping. At the time I hardly had any pressure on the pedals and the gears did not catch on anything. The bike was returned and I am now on another, same model etc. I have cycled for 60 years and just completed an off and on road trip from north to south France 930 miles on a 10 year old bike with no problem. In my long years of cycling never has a gear train snapped
