One I put it through the paces, it was tough to find something I didn’t like about this rod. Heavy duty. Not sure about it though...","text":"I bought the 42in medium. This is the Biggest ice rod I've ever seen. And I'm not talking about the length. The handle is big, the blank is big, the guides are HUGE! 1\"- 1/2\". Very stiff for a medium in my opinion. Its almost like they took the top half of an open water rod and threw a handle on it. The rod loads evenly, which is what worries me. Wanted it for hole hopping for walleye, but thinking this is too much backbone and not enough tip. This is not a fast action rod. It is and extremely well built rod though. You can tell it could take a beating. First thing I said was \"this thing is a tank!\". Trying to decide if im going to keep it though. I also don't like that it's a 42in rod but 10 of that is handle. I guess if you're ice fishing for marlin you might need that. I have a 40in rod that has more blank than this. The rod compared with is a 40in clam dead meat. Also if your case only goes up to 42 this rod is slightly over. 42.5. the shorter options could be vastly different. I know the handles are different.
