Having ridden road/race saddles in the past I knew there were better alternatives. The Aeolus was the second saddle I tried and it's excellent. No numbness, no pressure, comfortable in multiple positions, no constant shifting around to get comfortable...just a great saddle. It's slightly padded, just enough so it complement my padded shorts. I'll be getting another one for a bike build this spring. I could not have been more misguided.\n\nI had not planned on writing a review until I had ridden it more, but it took virtually no adjustment time to get used to the new seat. Frankly, the first time I sat on the thing it felt perfect. If you have not been biking, you will need to get used to sitting on your sit bones, but that will be true with every saddle.\n\nThe first ride I took it on was up and down Mount Diablo, then around the surrounding cities. Brand new saddle on a 40 mile ride with 4,000 feet of elevation was a great test for a new rider like me.\n\nThe long channel means that no matter where you sit on the seat, you will have no issue with smashing any tender soft tisue.\n\nRiding over sharp bumps I expected to get punched in the sit bones, but the saddle has enough deflection in the rails and substrate to easily absorb road buzz and bumps.\n\nSaddles are obviously an intimate touch point between rider and bicycle. You should always try to test ride a saddle before you buy, but I rolled the dice because of Bontrager's generous 90 day return policy. I left the stock saddle on it for about 8,000 miles and then finally purchased the Aeolus saddle. It found it immediately comfortable. I switched back when letting my wife test it and my old saddle felt like a torture device in comparison.\n\nMany of my rides are in the 2-3 hour range with occasional longer rides. At the end of longer rides, i do not feel like i need to get off the saddle.\n\nI got the comp saddle because i don't worry about weight and was unsure if this saddle would be the one i stayed with. Given what i know now, i would have bought the elite saddle.\n\nI do ride in the drops or with my elbows down to hood level often, and this saddle accommodates that hip rotation very comfortably. This saddle alleviated some -- not all -- of the sharp pain on my sit bones that I would get 2+ hours into a ride. However, the tip is a bit wider than other saddles I've tried. This causes serious irritation and friction if you try to tuck your knees in (over the top tube) to pedal with your knees in a more aerodynamic position at the top of your pedal stroke. I found myself pedaling with my knees spread further out to avoid that discomfort and it caused me to be less aerodynamic. I'm fairly prone to saddles sores and I developed several with this saddle in only a couple of months. If you find yourself in the same boat, I'd suggest giving the Ajna or the Aeolus a try. \n\nHonestly, I'd give both five stars, but the Aeolus takes the cake over the Ajna in terms of comfort over long hours. When I swapped it out I jumped on the bike and took off for a 70 mile ride, and didn't once think about it until I got off the bike...then realized that's exactly the sign of a fantastic saddle. No pain, no shifting around on the bike to find a position of comfort. The hype is real.
