The same issue with both. The magnetic strip that helps bring the flap closed only last about a month. The part that hold the flap in place lasted 6 months. The first door the flap holder lasted over a year. Now I have extra flaps and nothing to hold it in place. I have bought pet safe for many years because of the quality. This for cover that comes with this door is snap on and such a poor design. The other styles I bought had a slide that worked well. This snaps on after 5 -10 attempts . It’s already installed so I won’t return it. The door is fine but it came with plastic bolts! I've never had a petsafe door (I have had several) that didn't come with quality hardware. One of the bolts broke while I was screwing it in. Was so easy and fast to assemble. I had no trouble and it only took maybe 30 minutes. My only complaint would be the cover being difficult to get on and off. I would prefer a sliding closure. We have a more robust version with a sliding door for the exterior. I would definitely spend the extra to get the heavier duty one if using on exterior. For an interior door though, you can't beat the price on this one!! Placed it between the kitchen and living area under a window and lots of compliments. I just replaced the door flaps and noticed that the brackets holding the flaps are very delicate. The handy man that installed my doggie door cracked them in 2 pieces but I didn’t know until I noticed replacing the flaps. Be careful when installing.
