I bought this because it was $50 less than the Specter model. I assumed they were the same regarding the wave cel padding, but they are not. The Starvos has the standard heavy black foam in the back and not the wave cel which is only in the top and front. Also, the clip on the Specter is magnetic versus the Starvos standard clip and the adjusting mechanism is better on the Specter. This was returned.
I purchased the hi vis helmet it's easy to see it's also well built I think it would protect your head in a crash better then most helmets out there the price is very reasonable but it's also bulky and on the heavy side
I always have trouble finding a nice helmet be that fits comfortably and still looks stylish. my heads about 63cm- if you have a big head this helmet is for you. it's light and the wavecell tech wraps and forms to my head. Plenty of room for adjustment. I love it.
This helmet is exactly what I was looking for. My head is apparently very large and no helmet I have tried fits in Large. I have tried helmets ranging from $50 to well over $200, while they are great no helmet has fit as well as this one and has the wavecel tech that provides great protection and seems to fit better on my head than a standard MIPS helmet. I highly recommend this helmet for anyone who is a cyclist, novice or pro.
If you have an in between size head; such as a 56 CM, please do yourself a favor and get the medium and NOT the small . The small, even though advertised up to 57 CM, fit my 56 CM head too snugly and there was no room for adjustment. It is otherwise a really great helmet
I have an unusually large head that limits my opportunities for a properly fitting, nifty helmet. I was attracted to this helmet because of the sizing options. Purchases because of the sizing options and am extremely happy with the proper fit, great ventilation, and the confidence of the solid protection. I've worn this on a 40+ mile, Mid-Atlantic August Sauna ride and the helmet was not a distraction - ventilation kept me feeling cool enough and the weight was not a distraction.
Back to biking after a few decades, I researched bike helmets and ended up choosing this one was likely to offer excellent crash protection and be comfortable. I hope not to test the first, and can attest to the latter. It's been beastly hot recently and I was not at all conscious of this helmet adding to misery. I found the strap adjustment to be a chore but I think I finally have it set right. Making tiny adjustments on the fly is just not possible unless you want to break your ride with a 10 minute stop along the way. That's really the only down side to this item, near as I can figure.
