Amazing shoe!!
I have 280 miles on my shoes, and have set all new PR's with them! I run in them for all my training runs so that when the race comes my biomechanics and feet are used to the movement pattern. Tread is still good, shoe is still fast, and no other issues! Overall a 5 star shoe and will be getting another pair when I can reward myself! 😁

Mixed Thoughts About this Racing Shoe
I have a love/hate relationship with this shoe. First of all, it is important to understand that this is a true long distance racing shoe and NOT intended to be a daily training shoe. Of course, you can use these shoes for whatever purpose you wish, but racing shoes are typically not as durable as a trainer. Durability usually equals weight which isn't ideal when running a half or full marathon. If you want a good race training shoe, the Hyperion Tempo is an excellent choice.

In any case, I purchased these recently and took them on a test run to see how they felt and performed. I am a female runner that wears a size 12 in the Ghost and Hyperion Tempo, and an 11.5 in the Launch. I have medium to slightly wide feet and low arches. Since the Elite 2 is unisex men's sizing, I went with a 10.5 which fit perfectly. After testing these out, here's a run-down of what I liked and disliked about this shoe:

My first run with these was just a quick 2-mile run to get an overall first impression. The cushioning felt great under my feet and I definitely felt like they were propelling me forward and helping me to run faster. I finished the run an entire minute faster than I do with regular training shoes. For only a 2-mile run, that's a lot of time shaved off. So these are definitely speedy shoes.

Unfortunately that's where the love ends. My main issues with the Hyperion Elite 2 are with the overall comfort. Yes, the cushioning is fantastic, but I experienced major rubbing on the back of my heels. This was in spite of wearing high quality ankle running socks and the shoe being the right fit (not too large, not too small). I could feel it rubbing almost immediately after walking out the door.

The interior of the shoe is very low profile, which makes sense for a racing shoe, but at the same time it doesn't accommodate orthotic inserts. At least not the Superfeet Green I wear in all my shoes because I need the extra support. I definitely felt like my low arches were crying out for help as I ran in this shoe, and couldn't imagine my feet tolerating long distance in them.

Lastly, I absolutely hated the laces. They are very lightweight, which is great, but also very elastic, thin, and stretchy. On the one hand they do lend to the lightness of this shoe, and help keep your feet secured. These definitely will not untie during your run. But I did find them tricky to untie, at times having to really work at it because the thin elastic material created an overly tight knot. And once these shoes are tied, they are not coming off until they are untied. I could not slip or pull them off when tied.

Everyone's feet are different, and shoe experiences are highly subjective. They fit my feet like a glove and performed as expected, but ultimately the lack of arch support and heel rubbing were two issues I just couldn't overcome.

5 star shoes but only 2 stars because tread only lasted 150 miles
Shoes are really great but they have a pretty big flaw - the tread on the bottom wears out ridiculously fast. After only 150 miles, the heel tread was completely gone and all what was left is the yellow foam. For $300 I would expect more durability. If tread lasted 250 miles, these are 5 star shoes.

Excellent shoe. I've tried every terrain possible even the treadmill which was the best and the Hyperion handled every situation with aplomb! Great Job Brooks.

Fantastic ride
Being in my 50's and having had a number of knee reconstruction surgeries you'd think my running days are over. Not so. There are a limited number of high cushion, neutral stability shoes that actually work for me on a treadmill and I run every day. These are the first shoe in years that have pushed me to give it a go outside on asphalt again and they're great! I no longer attempt any type of speed like these shoes are designed for but the combination of weight, cushion, stability and the unbelievable rocker motion this sole creates have me back outside a few days a week and I feel free. Don't get me wrong, after the injuries I've sustained to my knee's I feel very fortunate to be able to get on a treadmill at all, but as any runner would tell you. "The freedom of running in the elements is like nothing else." I love these and I thank Brooks for making such an awesome shoe.

Early Assessment is Good
I've run one race in these (a 10k). My time was good and the shoe did perform. I felt a little unstable at first, with the heal being a bit softer than I'm used to from the Adrenaline and Trance shoes. That being said, it that once I settled into them, they did seem to perform. I'm worried about the durability of getting 200 miles from them, but can't comment on that yet.

You Won't Believe How Happy Your Feet Will Be!
At first I was very skeptical. After the second mile they formed to my foot and it seemed like the new foam softened. You won't even know they are on your feet. Just ran a quick 5 miles to "break" them in and plan on running in them two more times before the marathon. Bought them early to make sure they were the ones. Now I dont want too much wear before the big day. I might just use them a few more long Saturdays, but have decided to buy the Tempo trainers as well. You won't believe how Happy you feet will be!

Life Saver
Signed up for a half marathon randomly and these shoes saved my legs. My training in the past 6 months has been about 100 miles total and my longest run being 6 miles. I was able to finish around 7:10 pace and legs felt great the next day.
Half marathon!
