I spot lock often, and having the transducer constantly moving was a problem. This pole did a great job. The breakaway mount with the horizontal position solved the problem of what to do with the pole when you are moving to a different place. I like being able to change the length of the handle and depth of the transducer. Moving away from the trolling motor also seemed to reduce the noise on my screen. \n\nI have two minor complaints. \nI need the handle at 90° rather than 45° bend, as I sit and it is in my way. I was told that a new handle will be released shortly. \nThere also is a little play in the bottom transducer pole, apparently from the hole and button. The combined weight of the transducer and mount is significant. This has a slight effect on knowing exactly how your transducer is pointed. \n\nOverall, this made my forward facing sonar much more useful. \n\nBeing and engineer, I will also comment that the overall design, tolerances, fit and finish were excellent. Provides good support even when moving below 5 mph in down/vertical position ( mine uses the aluminum pole at the bottom). In horizontal position and lifted closer to the transducer the pole provides good stability while riding. Extra heavy spring required for break away if used for trolling in scout mode. Only wish it gripped a bit better to prevent turning while trolling in rough water and tightening screw needs to be larger for better grip. The company is awesome, always answers the phone and always extremely helpful.
