This knife has everything I need to field dress an elk, aside from the axe to split it for packing on the mules.\n\nBack in October, I shot an elk in Idaho just as dusk was setting in. My flashlight batteries were dying, and when I tried to put my knife somewhere safe, it still ended up lost. That, combined with my old knife constantly going dull no matter how often I sharpened it, pushed me to get a truly reliable knife.\n\nFast forward to November when my daughter shot her first 6x5 bull elk — this knife absolutely impressed me. It stayed razor sharp the entire time, while my buddy’s knife went dull and needed new blades. He even borrowed mine a few times because his couldn’t handle the tougher cuts.\n\nThe knife is lightweight, easy to handle, and the bright orange blade makes it hard to lose in low light. I prefer the thumb hole instead of thumb studs that catch on materials while cutting. I am not a fan of the paint on the blade. There's no need for it. And, the back-spacer that makes lanyard hole is a hot spot maker. The Carbon fiber lacks any kind of traction. I replaced mine with Flytanium G10 scales.
