However, I am still in the transition process because of having run in cushioned training shoes for the last several years. The XC Spikeless is very light and that is a feather-like pleasure considering the somewhat heavier cushioned trainers. Being in my late 70s requires any training routine change to be done gradually. We are in the northeast and they run on a lot of pavement and gravel in addition to grass. These shoes are a lot more pleasant for that task than metal spikes, without asking 13 year olds to mess around with spikes and blanks before a race. We did size up half a size over their typical Brooks number to a M6.0/W7.5 Being able to decorate them was a huge plus! Never again! These shoes are superior quality and much more durable. Flats are my daily were shoe. I walk the dogs 6 miles every morning in them and wear them throughout the day. I prefer minimalist styles of shoes to walk in. Every time that I find a pair that I like they end up being discontinued. These flats are more comfortable than other company's shoes at a much better price. The only complaint that I have is the limited availability of colors. The lighter colors are just too hard too keep clean. Other than that...
